Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you have a lot of spare time but don’t actually know what to do? Today’s piece will give you a few great ideas for both fun and productive things to do on your day off. Yes, watching your favorite show on Netflix for a whole day is part of the listing.
Fun and Productive Things to Do On Your Day Off
Many people believe that they should be productive every minute of the day. Sitting on the couch eating a cake is certainly not something they’d do. Others, on the other hand, prefer doing exactly that – chilling and doing whatever they want. Whether you like making use of your time or you love staying in your pajamas all day long, you’ll find what you’re looking for here. Below, I will list several productive things to do in your free time and a number of fun things to do whenever you have a day off. Now, sit comfortably, grab a pen, and write down every potential activity you’d engage in your idle hours.
Productive Things to Do On Your Day Off
Many people are looking for answers on “How to be productive?”. Well, the truth is that different habits work for different people. For instance, waking up early may be a game-changer for some. However, many individuals find it hard to implement this habit into their everyday routine. And that’s perfectly fine – we can’t all be the same after all. That’s why I’ve picked nine different productive activities that are quite different in nature. I believe each one of you will surely find at least one productivity habit they would enjoy.
- Read a self-help book
That’s probably one of the most productive things you can do whenever you have spare time. Below, I will list some well-known titles I believe anyone should consider checking out.
- The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey
- Atomic Habits by James Clear
- The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle
- The Power of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale
- Make Your Bed by William H. McRaven
- The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo
- The Secret by Rhonda Byrne
- Declutter Your Mind by Barrie Davenport and S. J. Scott
- Find a hobby
The options here are countless. Just think of something you’ve always wanted to try and spend a couple of hours a day doing it. It can be painting, cooking, writing – basically anything.
- Plan Your Week or Month Ahead
I’ve always thought that having a clear plan on what you’ll do in the following week is quite helpful. If you sit down and write down your future plans, you will find it easier to stick to your schedule.
- Start a Website
If there’s anything you’re passionate about, you can talk about it, for as long as you want, on your very own website. There are free platforms that allow you to create a basic blog, where you can express your ideas. In the end, you may become so into it you might even start earning real money from it.
- Do A Workout
I am obsessed with going to the gym, and I do it whenever I have the chance. I find it not only productive but also super healthy for both my body and my mind. Anything can be considered a workout – swimming, lifting weights, running in the park, or doing YouTube workouts in your living room. Give it a chance, and I promise you that you’ll appreciate how great it makes you feel.
- Meditate
Many people get overwhelmed by too much work. In such cases, meditation can come up as a great solution since it calms your mind and gets it off your worries.
- Create a Healthy Meal Plan
Productivity is not just about completing every task on time. Taking care of yourself is, for sure, the most productive thing you can do. So, creating a healthy meal plan consisting of nutritious and delicious foods is certainly a wonderful thing to do on your day off. Eating healthy is not always about losing weight; it’s best if it becomes your lifestyle.
- Clean Your Home
Cleaning is a boring task, there’s no doubt that about that. But can we all agree that once our home is sparkling clean, we feel so much more at peace with ourselves? So, after you finish reading this piece, make sure you start from the kitchen.
- Start a Side Hustle
Earning extra income while doing something you like is a dream come true. Nowadays, freelancing has become so popular that you’ll have no trouble finding an extra job. Platforms, such as Upwork, are loaded up with thousands of proposals in different niches.
Fun Things to Do On Your Day Off
Now that I’ve shared a few productive things to do during your days off, it’s time to focus on the fun part of this post. Below, I will list several activities that many may consider pointless. However, sometimes we all need to do anything but lay around, eating snacks. If you’re dreaming of spending a future day off in your bed, please, keep reading.
- Binge Watch a Show on Netflix
The variety of TV series is enormous. Therefore, anyone will be able to find something they like. A few shows I recommend are:
- Breaking Bad
- Money Heist
- Elite
- Sex Education
- You
- Teen Wolf
- Ratched
- Black Mirror
- Dark Desire
- Make A Dessert
I don’t know about you, but I love both cooking and baking. I’ve found that making desserts or other treats really calms me down, and I actually enjoy every second of the process. So I advise you to give it a go. If you live with someone, they will certainly appreciate your cookies, cake, or any other dessert you decide to make.
- Go Out with Friends
Socializing is quite important, but, unfortunately, when work takes up the majority of your day is a bit challenging to find a few hours to go out with your buddies. So, make use of your day off and plan a day or night out with your favorite people.
- Visit a Place You’ve Always Wanted to
Use every second of your day off to do things that will make you happy. If there’s any place you’ve always wanted to go to, now is the right moment to do it. I can be a cooking class, a museum, a gallery, or even a sweet street coffee that will give you material for your Instagram feed.
- Go Hiking
Now this one is one of my favorites. Spending time in nature is so good for you! I try to go out whenever I can, even if it’s just for a cup of tea on the balcony. Going on a hike in your day off will help you recharge and will fill you up with positive energy for the next couple of days.
- Invite Friends Over
There’s nothing better than a board-game night with lots of drinks and snacks in the company of your favorite people.
