In today’s post, we’ll talk about how to lose weight for good without crazy diets, starvation, and constant restrictions. I’ve struggled with obesity in my teenage years, and I’ve done many wrong things back then. However, I’ve learned that weight-loss is absolutely achievable if done right.
Back in the days, I used to hate summer and going shopping for a swimsuit just horrified me. The reason was that I was one sweet, chubby girl and I was super self-conscious about my body.
I wanted to lose weight so badly that I followed all kinds of ridiculous diets. There were days when I wouldn’t eat anything for 24 hours and would only drink water. I bombarded Google with questions, such as ‘How to lose weight for good?’ or ‘Unknown weight loss tips‘.
As you can imagine, all these experiments with my body gave a result equal to zero. I was the personification of a yo-yo effect.
Luckily, as I grew up and was reading more and more about weight loss and health, I learned a thing or two. In the past two years, I haven’t followed any strict diets, I haven’t starved myself, and I eat whatever I want. Also, I don’t feel the need to weigh myself anymore.

How to Lose Weight For Good: My Weight Loss Tips
Don’t eat until you’re full
Perhaps, one of the best weight loss tips I can share with you is to acquire the habit of eating in moderation. Whether it’s chocolate or a salad – you should always know when to stop.
My grandma used to tell me, ‘Never eat until you’re full. You should always stop eating earlier’. This advice sounded so ridiculous to me I didn’t even bother putting my thinking cap on. However, after changing my lifestyle completely, I realized how important it actually is to stop eating before you’re full.
Many times we’re full, without even knowing it. The reason is that it takes some time for your body to catch up with your mind. This means that when you feel you can eat a little bit more food, you’re actually 100% full, and you should stop eating.
After a few minutes, you’ll feel that you’re not hungry at all. This way, you won’t experience any discomfort, such as bloating or stomach pain. Learn to listen to your body.
Change your mindset
I know that whenever you ask yourself the question ‘How to lose weight?‘ the first word that pops into your head is ‘diet‘. Well, that’s so far from the truth, you can’t even imagine. I’m sorry to be the bearer of bad news but if you constantly think of how much weight you need to lose, how impossible it seems, and what else you should exclude from your menu… well, you won’t achieve any results.
One of the greatest weight loss tips is to stop criticizing yourself. Love yourself! If you’re filled with self-love you’ll achieve anything you want. Not only this, but you’ll feel happier and more confident. And believe me, these are some of the most attractive features anyone can possess.
The book called ‘The Secret’ has done wonders for my mindset. It made me believe that I have the greatest power, and I’m responsible for everything that takes place in my life.
If you change your mindset, you’ll not only lose weight for good, but you’ll also become the master of your thoughts, chasing all the negativity away.
This being said, make sure you attract only good things into your life by thinking positively.
Change your lifestyle
If I tell you that I eat pizza, chocolate cake, burgers, and fries every day and I don’t gain weight, it’ll be a total lie. If that was true, I’d be seriously worried about me. No, I don’t eat junk food every day. And you shouldn’t, too.
When I was younger, I used to binge eat foods that were so bad for my health and my body. I didn’t realize it because I felt so good while eating them. The moment the food was gone, I was filled with regrets and disgust. And I did that again, and again, and again. It was one vicious circle.
Luckily, with time I learned that I need to take care of my body, and these foods were not helping me to accomplish this mission. I started eating healthy foods such as avocado, greens, yogurt, oatmeal, all kinds of veggies and fruits, etc.
I educated myself about what’s good for my body, and I actually enjoyed every second of this transition. After I’d finished eating, I felt good. I stopped binge eating, and I stopped feeling bloated after every meal of the day.
It didn’t take much time for me to see how my body was changing. Undoubtedly, my body took a completely different form after I started going to the gym and doing strength workouts.
Now I look healthy, strong, and most importantly, happy.
Workout at least 4 times a week
This weight loss tip has been the biggest game-changer for me. Back in the days, I didn’t even want to think about going to the gym. I had the false belief that there are only fit and slim people who’d only make me feel even worse about myself. Big-fat-mistake.
Starting going to the gym is probably one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life. It makes me feel so good, so healthy, and so energized. Even though I was a complete newbie when I stepped in for the first time, I learned everything on my own.
Of course, there are days when I don’t feel like going to the gym and guess what I do? I don’t go. It’s that easy. We all have those moments when we just want to chill, eat some chips, and watch Netflix.
However, if you have a healthy lifestyle and mindset, this period won’t last long. After a day, or two, you’ll feel the need to get back on track.
And believe me, nobody at the gym cares about how you look like and what you’re doing. So, please, don’t let this stop you.
However, if you’re a person who just doesn’t enjoy going to the gym, do some kind of workout at least 4 times a week. You can go running, you can do at-home workouts, you can even take dance classes – there are so many options. I promise you that you’ll see results in no time!
Learn how to cook
If you want to lead a healthy lifestyle without getting bored eating broccoli and tomatoes every day, you need to learn how to cook. Yes, I know that not everybody likes doing it, however, you have to get used to it.
When you start to cook for yourself, you’ll know exactly what your meal consists of. Believe me, this is the best feeling ever. Plus, you’ll be able to eat different and tasty meals every day.
When I started shifting my lifestyle completely I ate only roasted chicken, eggs, and salads. I got so fed up with these foods I decided it’s time for a change.
I started reading cookbooks and looking at various recipes all over the Internet (mainly Pinterest) and I was trying to cook or bake something new every day.
I found that I enjoy cooking almost as much as I enjoy eating. Cookbooks can teach you useful cooking techniques you’ve never heard of. There are many beginners-friendly books out there that are relatively cheap. Believe me, they will become your best friends in the kitchen.
As you can imagine, I always have at least 5 ideas of what to do with different foods now. Actually, it’s been a long time since I had roasted chicken and a salad for dinner. 🙂
How to Lose Weight For Good: Conclusion
All in all, losing weight is not something that happens overnight. It’s pointless to look for some crazy diets that will make you lose 4 kilos in a week. The reason is that you’ll gain 6 kilos after you quit this particular diet. And, trust me, you don’t need this.
Instead, focus on your health, mindset, and lifestyle. If you follow my weight loss tips, you’ll achieve results. I promise you. You’ll not only lose weight for good, but you’ll change your life. And this is what matters the most.
Great article. My most important take away is love yourself! I am currently on the journey. Thanks for sharing your tips.

It’s so important to be patient with yourself and to try what’s working for you. Great advice, thank you for sharing.
I am just about to start a more healthier lifestyle because I want to loose a bit of weight and tone up a bit. I’m actually going to start the Chloe Ting challenge this week and start making healthier meals! X
I’ve dabbled in weight loss on and off and it’s such a hard obstacle. But I agree that it’s about a lifestyle change to make it sustainable and keeping it healthy and safe. It’s a shame to put in the work and then put the weight back on. But I think it’s important that everyone finds what is right for them and don’t fell pressure to lose weight and only do it if it’s their decision and comes from the right place
Thank you for your comment, Emma. <3 Of course, everyone can choose whether or not to lose weight. It's a personal choice and nobody should feel pressured to do it. I didn't feel that way, I just knew that if I lose that weight I'd feel so much better and healthier. 🙂
Learning how to cook really expanded my palate! I only ate a few vegetables before and now I eat so many different ones. It also helped my two-year-old be one of the least picky eaters I know! She loves to cook with me.
I know, right! Learning how to cook has changed my life.
Sending hugs to you and your little partner in the kitchen! 🙂
Some good points. I really don’t agree with the term ‘dieting’ at all as I don’t think they’re long lasting at all. I also think they do more negative than positive for mental health. These are some good points that don’t fall into that bracket which I love! Glad that you’re feeling happier in yourself x
Thank you for your comment, Meera. I’m so glad that there are people who think like you. Dieting won’t solve any issue someone has with his/her weight – it’ll only be a temporary solution. Completely changing your lifestyle and mindset, however, will definitely lead you to a happy and healthy state of your life.
<3
This was such a good read. I have been on an unhealthy mission to lose weight and followed fad diets and starved myself. I am definitely going to follow these tips, thank you!
Me too, love. I’ve followed all kinds of ridiculous diets that only made me feel more hungry, desperate, and annoyed. They’re definitely not worth anyone’s time and effort. I’m glad you liked my tips, and I really hope they’ll help you get where you want to be. <3
Aneka, sliding over from Twitter with love. I was about to start a keto diet with some new workout routine because since I’ve been working from home and focusing on writing, I’ve gained 40lbs. Pandemic has not been good to me, so thanks for this !
Believe me, you’re not the only one! 😀 Keto is not for me because I love potatoes soooo much! 🙁 Anyway, I wish you luck on your journey! <3 And thank you for commenting, Aneka.
These are some really great tips! I think its totally true that its completely a mindset thing, you need to change you’re whole lifestyle to maintain a body weight you are happy with, thank you for sharing!
Thank you for your comment, Liz. Undoubtedly, mindset is everything. <3
Cooking really helps to reduce eating bad food. Thanks
Absolutely! Thank you for your comment. 🙂
I really like this post. Thank you sharing such a great info.
Thank you! 🙂 Glad you liked it.
Amazing post! Thank you for sharing this! It is super helpful! I’ve been working out 4-5 days a week and it has really improved my health!
I’m sooo happy to hear that, love! Keep going! <3
Yes to all of this! I’ve done a bunch of fad diet nonsense and I finally realized it boils down to making lifestyle changes and staying active
Absolutely! Thank you for commenting! 🙂
Thank you for the tips! I need to improve the workout department because I barely have no time to do it. 🙁 and yeah, eating in moderation somehow helped me lose some fats.
Hey, love! Thank you for your comment. If you don’t have enough time to do an hour or so workout, I suggest you try HIIT workouts. They’re short, intensive, and super effective! I believe they’ll help you a great deal. Good luck! 🙂
You have such a refreshingly healthy perspective! It’s nice to see a post that doesn’t force feed you a one size fits all approach. Moderation, exercise and listening to your body is the best way to find a healthy lifestyle for your body and your mind.

This comment made me so incredibly happy! This is the exact message I wanted to tell to the people reading this blog post. Thank you! <3 I'm so happy you think this way.
Great tips. People think weight loss is hardcore dieting but it’s really not – it’s all about finding the balance, living an active life and making small changes.
My thoughts exactly! Thank you for your comment, Jenny. <3
Great that you’ve found ways to lose weight that work for you! ^^

Thank you! 🙂
Great tips! I need to lose a few pounds.
I absolutely love this post! I completely agree with you about this having to be a lifestyle change. Many people look at losing weight as a diet they’ll go on for a few months but maintaining weight loss is just as much work!
Thank you so much for your sweet comment! 🙂
Yes, it’s all about changing your mindset, your habits, and your lifestyle. <3
Oooh! I love these tips for losing weight. I like that tip – I find portion control being so important. I miss working out so much. It’s hard when there’s no plates at home for various barbell exercises. Thanks for sharing these tips!
Nancy ✨ exquisitely.me
Thank you for your sweet comment, Nancy! I’m so glad you liked my post. As for working out at home, there are so many exercises you can do with a resistance band or a dumbbell! 🙂 These two were my salvation during the quarantine. 😀
This is a great post. I always find that I manage to do well for a while and lose a fair amount of weight but because I don’t make permanent lifestyle changes I struggle to keep the weight off!

Hi, Roni! If you change your lifestyle, you’ll achieve your goals in no time! 🙂
I totally loved your suggestions! Especially what grandma says-Never eat until you’re full. You should always stop eating earlier. That’s the key to commence the amazing weight loss journey! Thanks for sharing ☺
Thank you for your comment. 🙂
I really like this article. Thank you for sharing such great info, I’m defiantly following those tips.
Thank you. 🙂
Loved reading this! Learning to cook great food myself was what helped me the most as well I think. This kept me away from junk food, because why would you have pizza again if you can have risotto or a salmon poke bowl? Which are both still ridiculously easy if you know how.
Cooking is a great way to change your eating habits. Knowing what your meal consists of is the best thing ever. <3 What's even better is that you can actually make a healthy pizza and have no regrets eating it. 🙂
Thank you for your comment!
Thanks for sharing these tips! I like the tip your granda shared to you about “Never eat until you’re full. You should always stop eating earlier” – I should really do this! Most of the time I get carried away I don’t realize I’m full already. Haha! And yes to working out regularly. I believe healthy eating and workouts are the best combo to effective weight loss for good. 🙂
Believe me, this tip is a game-changer! 🙂 As for working out and eating healthy, that’s undoubtedly the best thing anyone can do in order to lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle. <3
Learning how to cook is so important! There are so many things snuck into shop bought meals or sauces and actually cooking is quite fun!
Katie | katieemmabeauty.com
Absolutely! It’s just not worth buying pre-made meals when you can cook everything at home. 🙂
Real weight loss is in the food and learning to cook is the central to that. The good news is that most weight loss foods are mostly prep work and very little exposure to heat. “Learn to cook” should be in bold
I’ve found that cooking has done wonders for me and my weight loss. 🙂 I’d choose to make my own burrito instead of buying one every time. 🙂
I definitely need to work out and learn how to cook! I’m really bad at those things! Great post and very informative. Thanks xxx
You’re not bad at anything. <3 It just takes some time and practice! :)))
Thank you for your comment.
Fantastic post! I think you’ve nailed the topic perfectly.
Thank you so much!
Everything you say is so true. We all tell ourselves the same lies or misconceptions because we are struggling with our body image and fall into the trap of believing nonsense about diet, health etc Cooking for yourself will make a big difference. I’m wondering if hormones are affecting my weight as well. But there is no simple fix–it’s commitment and lifestyle change.
Hi there, love! Thank you for your thoughtful comment. <3 I believe that hormones can be responsible for weight gain or weight-loss. I think it's better to consult with your doctor if you think this might be the reason. 🙂 I'm really glad you agree with what I've written in this blog post of mine. 🙂
This is a great article! I’ve really let myself slip recently with food habits etc and I’ve never been happy with how I look. Letting myself slip has only made me feel worse but there’s some great advice here that I should really start following if I want to see results. Thanks for the advice 🙂
You’re most welcome, Chloe! 🙂 I know you’ll manage to achieve anything you want if you’re patient and consistent. <3
Great article! So many useful tips for weight loss. Thanks for sharing it.
Good tips. I’ve star excercising because with just dieting I can’t shift the weight. I’ll leep your post for future reference 👍
I think the part about mindset is so important in working to have a healthier lifestyle! Yes, you have to exercise and eat right, but if you’re miserable the whole time then what’s the point? Nobody becomes a supermodel overnight, so you have to find ways to enjoy the process as you go 🙂
That’s right. 🙂 Mindset is everything in life. Thank you for your comment! <3
These are very important tips! I decided to lose weight in the wrong way, by not eating at all. It didn’t end well, but I am in a better place now. Personally, I love veggies! I don’t restrict myself with food, but I eat within a certain time limit. I also make sure it’s intuitive, but realistic. I love cooking and set myself to only 3 meals and 2 snacks. This works for me really well! I also work out where I can. Thank you for sharing your advice!
Em | http://www.loveemblog.com
Your lifestyle sounds super right! 🙂 Working out a few times a week, cooking for yourself, eating lots of veggies, and having a healthy relationship with food is all you need to maintain a healthy body. Thank you for your comment. Em.
Some really good tips here, I’ll definitely be trying to put some of these into practice to try and lose some of the lockdown weight that I’ve gained haha
I’m sure you’ll do it with ease if you follow my tips! <3
Thank you for your comment.
Wow what a great post! I especially liked the part about cooking for yourself. What a lot of peiple don’t realize is losing weight is around 80% diet and 20% exercise. If you workout on a regular basis but eat junk food every meal of every day, then you won’t achieve the results you want. Thank you for sharing! 🤗
You’re absolutely right! 🙂
Thank you for your comment!
Learning how to cook and actually finding ENJOYMENT in cooking really made a massive difference for me as it meant that I was getting takeaways or eating frozen/processed foods less often💕

Great tips here for lifestyle changes for weightloss, glad to see you promoting such healthy ways to shift the weight.
Nice tips. Changing your mindset and lifestyle is really important and learning how to cook helps too.
Hi Alexandra. Great tips. I think my biggest problem is, I know what I need to do, its the doing it consistently part that lets me down! As my teacher used to say in high school – must try harder!
